The World Of Super-Catamarans

The last 10 years has seen an unprecedented growth in Catamarans the world over. The majority of these have been from the production manufacturers and generally stopping at the 80ft mark. These yachts have been aimed at round-the-worlders, the charter market or those simply seeking more space.

Some manufacturers, such as Sunreef, have now extended the range to 100ft and above (I know, I sold 3 x 100ft Sunreef Power Catamarans including the first electric drive unit).

Now we are seeing a new breed of exceptional catamarans such as the 43 metre "This Is It" (pictured above) and the 47 metre Art Explorer, aimed at the commercial markets, one for charter and one for roving art exhibitions and events, these cats present a plethora of new challenges and opportunities.
